History
The Bohemian Terrier dog breed is among the youngest breed that belongs to the terrier dog group. These terriers of the Czech Republic were bred as purebred a couple of years after the Second World War. The official breeding program started back in the year 1949. Pioneer breeders of these dogs created them by crossing two terrier breeds. These are the Scottish and Sealyham terriers. This crosses developed a terrier that can impressively go to the ground to hunt and also do very well in open field hunting situations.

Personality
Bohemian Terriers are patient and gentle dogs when around children. For a full-blooded terrier, the Bohemian Terrier breed is surprisingly very mild. This trait makes them one of the terrier breeds that are ideal for family pets as well as companion dogs.

Bred For
Bohemian Terriers were developed as versatile terriers that can go to the ground as well as hunt in open fields.

Environment
Bohemian Terriers are known to be very good apartment dogs.

Grooming
Bohemian Terriers are quite high maintenance when it comes to their grooming needs. Special attention and plenty of time should be given to maintain their coats. These are dogs the shed little to no hair.

Training
Bohemian Terriers are very trainable dogs because of their high intelligence.

Health
The Bohemian Terrier is a dog breed that is considered to be generally healthy. Some lines of these terriers are prone to Scottie Cramp Syndrome, sometimes called Wobbly Scottie, which causes the dog to walk in an awkward movement.

Exercise
Bohemian Terriers require to be taken on long walks every day. These small dogs are also ideal jogging mates.
