History
The Australian Koolie can trace its origins during the 1800s in Australia. These dogs were bred to be all-around working dogs. They were once called German Collie dogs as they share similar physical traits. These multi-purpose dogs were bred and used in various tasks including herding a variety of livestock such as sheep, cattle, goats, horses and fowl.

Personality
Australian Koolie dogs are known to be one of the most energetic collie type dog breeds today. These dogs display admirable loyalty and devotion to their job and their owners. These dogs are Australia’s multi-purpose farm dogs that were bred to herd various livestock including sheep, cattle, horses and even fowls. Environment
The Australian Koolie is not an apartment dog. They will not be good as city pets. These dogs are ideal farmworkers and should be kept in rural areas surrounded by family.
