Cesky Fousek dogs go by various names, but one thing is for sure, these dogs are a strong looking medium-size dog that will have your full attention when you lay your eyes on their almond-shaped, brown eyes, inquisitive facial features and cute drop ears.

History

The Cesky Fousek was widely used wirehaired pointing dog in the Czech and Slovakian Republics, but with the advent of World War I, the breed came close to extinction. The breed was revived in the 1930s with the help of German wirehaired and shorthaired pointers and is once again a popular hunting dog in its homeland.

Personality

The Cesky Fousek is a hard-working, intelligent dog that is devoted to its family and highly trainable.

Bred For

Primarily used as pointing dogs. They will do best with a large yard but a fence that is at least 6 foot tall is necessary. These tiny dogs can do well in most climate conditions.

Environment

This breed is not recommended for apartment life

Grooming

They have this wiry with a soft dense undercoat. They have a longer coarse outer coat and long, coarse guard hairs. With this, they require regular grooming.

Training

These dogs are easy to train.

Health

Alopecia and hip dysplasia are common to the Cesky Fousek. But aside from these, these dogs are considered to be generally healthy.

Exercise

Regular and vigorous exercise sessions are very important for these tireless energetic pointing dogs.
