Introduction

The Chacy Ranior dog breed was originally called the Schichon. A hybrid dog that is a cross between the Shih-Tzu and Bichon dogs appeared recently, which goes by the same name. To avoid this dog breed to be mistaken for the hybrid cross, the breed’s name was changed to Chacy Ranior.

History

The Chacy Rainor dog breed is a very young dog breed, with its development starting just in the year 2000. This is a breed specifically bred to be therapy dogs that small enough and ideal to help children with special needs. The Chacy Ranior’s pioneer breeder is Ms. Dawn Littlefield, who worked with children with special needs, often afflicted with disabilities that affect major sensory organs. She created this therapy dog breed to have the ideal temperament, size, coat texture that will help and be perfect companions for children.

The Chacy Ranior’s foundation stock included lines of Bichon Frise, Shih-Tzu, Lhasa Apso, Yorkshire Terrier, Havanese, Maltese, Poodle and Miniature Schnauzers. Ms. Littlefield originally named it as the “Shichon”, which is an apt acronym that stands for Special Homes In Crisis Have One Need. This name resulted in the breed to be confused with the Shichon hybrid that is a cross of just two dogs, the Bichon Frise and the Shih-Tzu. To fix this issue, Ms. Littlefield changed it to Chacy Ranior. The new name is derived from Ms. Littlefield’s two children, Chase and Lacy which makes up the name Chacy. Ranior is an acronym that was derived from taking the fourth letter of the words theRapy, disAbility, dowN syndrome, autIsm and octO, a word honoring the eight breeds in the Chacy Ranior’s foundation stock, and lastly beaR, referring to the dog’s soft teddy bear-like coat.

Personality

The Chacy Ranior was specifically bred to be very docile, well-behaved, calm, tolerant and welcoming making them perfect therapy dogs for children of all ages. They are dogs that are stable in temperament and displays playfulness, alertness, outgoing demeanor, very intelligent and very curious. These dogs will be very devoted and will form a deep attachment to their family.

The Chacy Ranior will be a great apartment pet. They will require and crave human companionship and should not be left alone in an apartment for a long duration.
