History

Chien Blanc du Roi dogs are more famously called Porcelain dogs. Their origins are quite unclear and are a subject of debate on whether they originate from Switzerland or France. Regardless, they are considered to be the oldest of all the scent hound dog breeds that have French lineages. They are believed to be the result of crossing Swiss Laufhunds with English Harrier dogs. They were created to specifically hunt small games in their locality. Today the Chien Blanc du Roi dogs are very rare. The majority of these dogs can be found in some parts of Italy, Switzerland and France.

Personality

Chien Blanc du Roi displays fierceness and enthusiasm when out on the field hunting. They may seem fierce hunters, but these dogs are known to be gentle and very easy-going at home with their families. They are well mannered and will get along with children and other dog breeds. Chien Blanc du Roi dogs are also very vocal. They have an independent disposition that makes them very stubborn.

Bred For

Chien Blanc du Roi was bred to hunt hare as well as roe deer. They were created to be pack hunters.
