Because of that, this breed is also called Wright’s Cur.

Like all the varieties of this breed, the Florida native is a black mouth cur that was bred to be an all-purpose hunter. The Florida Black Mouth Cur can also be used as herding dog of various livestock as well as a dependable watchdog that will display admirable loyalty and will be very protective as well.
