History

Developed in the late nineteenth century in the Scottish Highlands, Golden Retrievers were created by crossing Flat-coated and Wavy-Coated Retriever dogs as well as Tweed Water Spaniels and the Red Setters. The pioneer breed was the 1st Baron of Tweedmouth, Dudley Marjoribanks. From Baron’s initial breed development it quickly became famous with the British Aristocrats who used it as both hunting dogs for retrieving as well as companion pets. Today this dog breed is one of the most versatile dog breeds, famous for being companions and also as therapy dogs, search and rescue, assistance work for the disabled, blind and the elderly, hunting and tracking, obedience competitions, police and military work.

The Golden Retriever dog breed is known to be very outgoing, sociable, lighthearted. They became one of the world’s most popular dog breeds for their even-tempered disposition. Environment
