History

The original Italian Wire-haired Pointing dogs originated in Italy and are known to be one of the most ancient dog breeds today. These Italian gun dogs were created to be tireless workers that can perform on any kind of terrain. This dog breed is believed to be the result of crossing White Mastiffs, coarse-haired Italian Setters and French Griffons which was then crossed with the Greek and Adriatic hunting dogs.

Personality

Italian Wire-haired dogs are good-humored and full of passion. These are ancient pointing dogs that will be calm and composed. They are gun dogs that can be persistent and often wary when faced with a new situation or when around strangers. These dogs are also very hard working and will be very vocal while at work.
