History

The St. Germain Pointing Dog was developed in 1830 in the French royal kennels at Compiegne in Saint-Germain-en-Laye. This breed is the result of a cross between an English Pointer bitch and a French Braque and was developed for use on small game. They became a favorite of Parisian hunters for their exceptional hunting skills and versatile nature when on the hunt. In the mid to late-nineteenth century, they were popular show dogs.

Personality

They are gentle and social dogs that are equally adept as a hunting dog as well as an ideal family companion. The St. Germain Pointing Dog dog enjoys working and is highly trainable but also thrives on attention and affection.

Training
