More about the shelter
Our Rescue is an all volunteer effort to rescue, rehabilitate, and re-home unwanted and abandoned Boxer dogs. When Boxers are in need, Across America Boxer Rescue's dedicated volunteers respond. Our mission includes hands-on rescue, as well as education. Our rescue is dedicated in helping as many Boxers that have had a very "ruff" start for whatever reason.
All Boxers that come into our rescue will be examined by our vet, brought up to date on vaccines, heart worm tested, (placed on heart worm preventive medication) and fecal tested, and spayed/neutered prior to adoption. We will evaluate each Boxer's personality and temperament, so they can be placed in the best home suited for them.
Adoption application, 3 personal reference checks, vet reference check, home visit, adoption contract, spay/neuter, microchip, vaccinations, medical care, hw preventive, hw treatment, and any other medical needs.
About Russell - FOSTER OR ADOPT ME!!
Distance: 1,019 Miles
Russell will join us very soon!! He has some vetting done but we will get everything else done that is needed and will get him moved to his Indiana foster home. So far we know that he is loving, goofy, fun and great when riding in the car :) Stay tuned for more information on this ADORABLE wigglebutt!3/30/24 UPDATE...After court proceedings on his neglect case, Russell ended up staying with his rescue angel. Four years later, Russell finds himself in need of rescue again as his mom is now an angel watching over him from Heaven. We have once again committed to Russell and we are in desperate and urgent need of a foster home for him. He is already neutered and up to date on all vetting. Due to some extenuating circumstances, Russell is very thin and has a little bit of food guarding issues due to lack of being fed over the last couple of weeks. We were also told that he can be protective of his human but again we believe this is 100% situational and along with the food guarding is absolutely workable and will correct itself when he is safe and secure in a home. Please consider fostering the sweet boy whose world has been turned upside down.4/18/24 UPDATE...Russell arrived at his Kentucky foster home last weekend. He is sad and confused but is doing OK. He is eating well and is being allowed to decompress and adjust to allllll of the recent loss and changes in his life. We will post more updates soon!! 5/13/24 UPDATE...Russell arrived at Prestige Pets in Minnesota where he will be given time to chill out, decompress, then be evaluated with other dogs with slow and controlled intros. They will also be working with him on his resource guarding of food with other dogs. 9/17/24 UPDATE FROM KELLY AT PRESTIGE PETS......Russell is good with other dogs given proper introductions and his two week shutdown/decompression. I have not seen any issues with food or toys, even high value toys. He is a very good boy. Russell keeps a very clean kennel all of the time and not one issue there or even his leash manners now. He loves to give hugs and is happy on the couch next to you while you play video games or watch movies. He rarely barks and is very happy to greet you every day, even if you were only gone for 2 minutes LOL Russell will follow basic commands with ease given a proper time to bond with his people. He doesn’t get into trouble or need to be constantly watched. I’ve left him out overnight without any issues when I’m here of course. He hasn’t had one issue or gotten into anything. His favorite place is right next to his people and very loyal once bonded. Russell seems to love men more than women these days but here I'm the rulekeeper and Josh is the rulebreaker and loves on all of the dogs all of the time :)
