Meet Pumpkin! This adorable 3-year-old Norwegian Elkhound is as sweet as her name suggests! Pumpkin may be a bit skittish, often choosing to run and hide in her cozy kennel or freeze in place when startled. But don't let her shy demeanor fool you; once you start petting her, she melts into a puddle of joy, relishing the gentle affection. As a breed, Norwegian Elkhounds are known for their loyalty and affectionate nature, and Pumpkin embodies this perfectly. She's on a journey of building confidence and is slowly exploring her surroundings, making her brave little discoveries along the way. A calm and patient home is essential for her, as loud noises and quick movements can send her scurrying back to her safe haven. Pumpkin has a heart of gold and a gentle spirit. She loves grooming sessions, sitting still as you brush her soft fur and shower her with compliments about being a beautiful girl. She's great with other dogs and would really benefit from having a canine companion to help her embrace her doggy side. Though she's typically quiet, Pumpkin thrives on routine and is currently working on her kennel training. She knows her kennel is her safe space and appreciates the structure it provides. Pumpkin is also making strides in potty training and enjoys spending time outside, so a secure fenced yard is a must for her adventures. This will be at the adopter’s expense, so we encourage you to research the breed and be prepared for grooming expenses. Underdog cannot guarantee hypoallergenic or non-shedding qualities of any dogs in our rescue. Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. In turn, they require another companion dog and/or a fenced in yard in their forever home in order for them to feel safe.
