More about the shelter
New Rattitude is a national, all-volunteer non-profit rescue/adoption agency whose mission is to rescue Rat Terriers (and mixes that are predominantly Rat Terrier) from imminent death at animal shelters, the streets, abusive/neglectful homes, or from owners who can no longer keep a dog, and to rehome the dogs into new and permanent, screened and approved adoptive homes. Each dog rescued is cared for in a safe and nurturing foster care environment where he or she receives appropriate medical care, a high quality diet, training and socialization. To achieve these ends, the organization is involved with transportation, volunteer recruiting and training, mentoring, fund-raising, and establishing and maintaining other programs deemed helpful to achieving the mission of rescuing and re-homing Rat Terriers.

About Cedar (WA)
Distance: 1,174 Miles
Beautiful brown-eyed Cedar is as pretty as they come. Weighing close to 15 lbs., 8-year-old Cedar enjoys being mellow most of the time, napping in the sun, daily short walks, and most importantly exploring her fenced-in backyard. Cedar comes from a breeding situation, where she had limited positive interactions with humans, so she's shy and very skittish. Taking things very slowly and giving her time to warm up (along with lots of treats), she'll be your new best friend asking for attention and ready for belly rubs.
Since Cedar startles easily, she prefers walking in quiet areas where she won't encounter a lot of strangers, loud noises, or dogs. Also, a securely fenced-in yard is a must and having a dog-door is even better. It has become clear that Cedar trusts women much more than men and will need to have a woman as her primary person. She loves her foster dad but only when her foster mom is home. She does have some separation anxiety, so she is looking for a woman who either works from home or is retired. Cedar currently sleeps well in her crate every night but would probably love sleeping with her person once she feels safe.Cedar has gotten along well with the other six dogs in her foster homes, relying on them for comfort and joining in at barking at the wildlife. She has also done very well with the two cats in her foster home. She doesn't often play with her foster siblings but does readily snuggle up to dogs and humans alike. Cedar would do best living with at least one other considerate, gentle dog. Cedar has a wonderful personality, is a fairly low-maintenance dog and has been a joy to her foster family. She's also as cute as a button and she loves blankets especially when they are just out of the warm dryer!
