Needy Paws Rescue, located in St. Louis, MO, is devoted to saving animals in need whose lives are in danger at high kill animal shelters and animal controls, those who are strays, and dogs who have been abandoned or whose family has faced an extreme emergency, regardless of their size or breed. We are a 501(c)3 non-profit organization run entirely by donations.
Our organization is made up of volunteers who have been involved in various animal rescues in the St. Louis area and we use our knowledge and experience to make a difference. We believe spaying and neutering is a very important step in keeping pets healthy and happy, plus it helps decrease overpopulation. All of our rescued animals will be spayed or neutered, they will be microchipped to ensure they are identifiable if lost or stolen, and they will be current on all of their vaccinations before going to their forever homes.
We are foster-based and all pets stay in approved foster homes that have passed inspections, reference checks and are qualified to take care of our rescued animals while they wait for their forever family. We are dedicated to finding the best forever homes and will be making home visits and conducting veterinarian checks and reference checks to ensure the pets will have a safe, loving, happy home. Forever families will be taught how to care for their pet and learn how to get the most out of their relationship with their new family member.

Adopters will complete an adoption application which is sent to the dog's foster parent. Their personal and veterinarian references will be checked, a home visit conducted, and then the foster parent will set up a meeting where the adopters will meet the dog. If the adoption is approved, the adopter will then complete an Adoption Contract and the dog is theirs!
Adoption fees are $275 for most dogs.

Misty is a 6 year old shih tzu who had a rough start to life. She is gentle and shy, and she has some quirks. Misty is unable to navigate down flights of stairs, so she needs to be carried. She can go up stairs just fine. She also is sometimes afraid of going outside, so again she needs to be picked up and carried.
Misty gets along with other dogs great and mostly just wants to chill near them. She is not rowdy nor is she very loud unless she’s been locked in her crate and she wants out. When she gets excited her whole body wiggles and she starts licking whoever is nearby.
Misty would be great in a quiet home where people are around often. She benefits from frequent potty breaks, gets excited for meals and takes treats gently.
Misty will require at least one companion dog and a fenced yard.

Misty’s adoption fee is $275.00, which includes up-to-date vaccinations, heartworm testing and preventative, spay/neuter and microchip.
We are a 100% foster-based rescue and all of our dogs live in approved foster homes. We are dedicated to finding the best Forever Homes, and will perform home visits and conduct veterinarian and reference checks for each potential adopter.
