More about the shelter
Last Hope Animal Rescue, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Formed in March of 2004, we are an all volunteer animal rescue group comprised of foster homes in the greater Cedar Rapids area. Many of our animals come from local kill shelters, as their time has run out due to any number of reasons including lack of space, not deemed adoptable, special needs, etc. Our purpose is to save as many homeless, abused, abandoned, hard to place, neglected animals that we can and to place as many animals as possible into loving, forever homes where they will be cherished.
Prior to adoption, all of our dogs have been tested for heartworm, current on vaccinations, micro-chipped, and spayed or neutered, if age appropriate. Our adoption process includes reference and background checks, a vet check and home visit.
The adoption fee for dogs and puppies varies.
Prior to adoption, our cats have been tested for feline leukemia, current on vaccinations, micro-chipped, and spayed or neutered, if age appropriate. If at the time of adoption, the kitten is too young to be spayed or neutered, an agreed upon time frame will be set for when this procedure is to be done. Spaying or neutering is not an optional procedure, it is required of all animals we rescue.
The adoption fee for cats and kittens varies.
About Tiger
Distance: 1,350 Miles
Hi there! My name is
Tiger
and I am almost three years old. I get along with other dogs and I am pretty well housebroken. I am good when left alone, but prefer to be near my person as much as possible. I will play with some squeaky toys, but I prefer attention and cuddling, one could call me a lap dog. Don't get me wrong though, for, as much as I love to cuddle I still do have a lot of energy that I need to get out of me so I have higher than average exercise needs
! I do enjoy being outside and do pretty well on leash though I am not a big fan of encountering strangers. I have been on some car rides and enjoy them. I might be excited at first, but if you ask me to stay in the backseat I will. Overall I would be a good addition to the right person or family, but I do need someone that can work with me on basic manners (I jump up when I get excited) and continue learning good behaviors so an experienced dog owner who is very familiar with my breed
is a must. I am not a fit with
children or cats.
I will also definitely need a 6 foot fence as I am a bit of an escape artist!
Tigers adoption fee is $250 and includes his neuter, microchip, current vaccinations and preventatives PLUS a free obedience course at Cedar Run in Hiawatha. Last Hope requires that all animals be kept as indoor pets only, be current on preventatives and vaccinations and be altered. Our adoption process includes reference and background checks, a vet check and a home visit. Please submit an adoption application for consideration at www.adopthope.org.
