Gumbo is a 2-year-old, 79-pound bundle of pure sweetness, a mix of American Bulldog and German Shorthair Pointer. Gumbo was rescued in September of 2024 and has been living the life with his foster. I noticed him while stopped at a traffic light and couldn't shake the feeling that something was wrong. I went home, grabbed a sunshade, food and water, thinking I'd help the dog and his owner. But when I returned, I learned the heartbreaking truth - the person who had him didn't want him and had abandoned him there. I gave Gumbo some water and set up the sunshade, but as I walked away, I glanced back and saw the defeat in his eyes. My heart told me, "You have to be his voice." I turned around, untied him, and in that moment, his joy was beyond words.
