More about the shelter
Our Mission:
To inspire compassion and responsibility for animals, in addition to rescuing, rehabilitating and finding homes for companion animals.
Our Profile:
Forte Animal Rescue is an all-volunteer 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, seeking solutions for pet-overpopulation, as well as working together with the community to cultivate the human-animal bond through educational programs and activities.
Our Objectives:
After years of work in animal rescue, we established this unique organization in January 2003 to function as a "hub" for people and the rescue community in order to help each other. We believe this is necessary in helping the rescue community to achieve its common goals of saving the lives of as many animals as possible.
Stop people from taking their animals to the pound through our Outreach Program by advising them of possible solutions, introducing them to appropriate trainers for their specific problems, or assisting them in finding new homes for their pets through our Adoption Program.
Serve as a liaison between animals and the general public. Our new educational program will help improve pet-people relations and understanding of responsibilities. This is especially important because lack of such knowledge is one of the direct causes of abandonment of companion animals.
1. Volunteers at Forte Animal Rescue will work with you to identify your interests and needs in regards to a companion animal that would be suitable for your home. Our Adoption Questionnaire (PDF) for Dogs or Cats covers most of the issues which we have found relevant to helping you find your new companion and smooth the transition for both of you.
2. After reading your questionnaire, one of our volunteers may make suggestions as to which animals may be best suited to you and your lifestyle and make an arrangement for you to meet them at our Weekend Adoptions or in their foster homes to get to know each other.
3. If you fall in love on the spot, please make sure you have read the "Before You Adopt" section because this is a big, and important decision, not just for the human involved, but also for the companion animal. We can then proceed with the next stop of the adoption process which is commonly called the "Home Safety-Check"
4. An Adoption Fee is required along with a signed adoption agreement, which ensures that if, for any reason, you are unable to keep the animal, he/she is to be returned to Forte Animal Rescue only.
5. Finally, we personally deliver your new family member to your home.
About Chumi
Distance: 1,441 Miles
Looking for an outgoing pup companion with a mellow vibe, very affectionate and the sweetest smile? My name is Chumi, and I’m your girl! I have medium energy level and love exploring outdoors with lots of walks, even light runs and sunbathing. I am excellent in social settings because I have a laid-back attitude, walk well on leash, and enjoy meeting new people, of all ages, and friendly dogs. I am housebroken, perfectly behaved at home where my favorite spot will be cuddling next to you where I can cover you in kisses and you rub my belly! I have had obedience training and even done some agility, so am attentive to directions. I was a stray until I got injured when a car hit me. A woman took me in to help me recover from minor hip injury but after 5 years my person is now dealing with health issues of her own and can no longer provide the life she believes I deserve. She chose my happiness over her own, and hopes I have the chance to find good people to give me a loving home where I will be adored. I am seeking a family who enjoys a regular routine that includes lots of time outside. I would do well as the recipient of all your attention, or with another dog with a similar temperament. I know I am a mature girl but am a gem who has so much to give you! I know we will create wonderful memories together.
[Chumi is 8 years old and weighs 60 lbs.]

Note: This is a courtesy posting for our fellow rescuer, which means that even though this animal does not belong to our group, we are here to help those who need to find a home for their animals. We are merely helping them gain exposure on the Internet by serving as a conduit to make the initial contact with the potential homes, and we are not responsible for the content of this post. All future communications and arrangements are solely between you and the above contact person.
