Meet Scarlet, a Lhasa Apso mix. This sweet girl has spent most of her life having babies and is loving her new life in a house with people. She’s a loving, cuddly, spunky little lady who really just wants some toys to play with and a lap to sit in. She’s rather uncertain about new people, but she is brave and warms up quickly if you give her space to come out of her shell. She’s had very few accidents in the house, but she is still learning about potty training and she isn’t a fan of this cold weather. She needs to be brought outside after every meal. At night, she sleeps well in her kennel, but will bark if she needs to go potty. All of her accidents have been immediately after eating or on the way to the door after letting me know she needs to go potty. She does well during the day on a schedule. Having not lived in a house before, she is still getting used to all the new things. She’s been learning which things are toys and which are not. She will need supervision in her new home while she learns the rules in a new place. She will stop when she’s told to and redirect to a toy. And while she is still figuring out exactly how squeaky toys work, she loves her blue chew toy. Her crate is her safe space when she can’t be supervised. She goes into her crate without a fuss. She will bark for a bit if she can’t see you or when you leave the house, but then settles in. Many times, she will stay in there, even with the door open. Scarlet’s front legs are short and her body is long, so the logistics of getting up or down stairs are not in her favor. She may always need help with steps. She is perfectly happy being carried outside and getting a few extra cuddles in on the way. She’s on the larger side for a Lhasa Apso (I am guessing around 18lbs), but not too big to be carried.
