More about the shelter
The success of our organization is rooted in our dedicated group of volunteers both local and abroad. We have partnered with like-minded individuals in countries including but not limited to the Middle East, Bahrain, India, Turkey, Mexico and Vietnam to help change the lives of some of the worldâs most in-need animals. As we do not have a physical location, we depend on the support of the local community in the form of foster homes and potential adopters.
According to the World Health Organization, there are more than 200 million stray dogs worldwide (as of 2017). The lives of these street dogs is particularly short and difficult in countries with limited resources dedicated to animal welfare. This is where we come in.
Our partners abroad work tirelessly to take in stray dogs who are most in need of medical care. They (and you) are their best chance for survival. Generally, the process begins with the dogs being rescued off of the streets, restored to health and rehabilitated by these compassionate individuals.
Loved at Last Dog Rescue is a society of dog loving volunteers who are committed to assisting in the rehoming of local dogs and rescuing dogs (often disabled) from high kill countries around the world.
LALDR does not profit from any adoption fees. All donations to Loved at Last Dog Rescue are used to cover the cost of veterinary care, special equipment such as prosthetics and wheelchairs and to assist in the transportation of the dogs.
The specific objectives and purpose of this organization shall be: a) To assist owners who are no longer able to care for their dog in re-homing the dog. b) To educate people about the importance of adopting, not buying, a dog. To educate people about street dogs and abused dogs and to provide a network of support to dog owners. c) To save dogs in need and at risk whenever possible, especially in situations where there is a potential for unnecessary euthanasia. d) To educate people about spaying and neutering, as well as the identification and registration, of domestic pets.
We have a passion for preserving life and for protecting those who can't speak for themselves. To champion for those who are victimized by cruelty.
-adoption application, phone interview, home visit, meet the dog.
Adoption fees range from $400 to $600 depending on the dog's age.
Contract required. Spay/neuter if animal currently too young & return policy to us if animal can no longer be kept, unless other contract arrangements previously made.

Hello. My name is CHESTER and here is a little info about me:Breed: Golden Retriever/Australian Shepard mixAge: 1 -1/2 yearsGender: maleWeight: 25 kgHeight: 24 inchesHighlight(s): polite, social, intelligent, quick learning, loving, gentlemanlyLooking for a wonderful, polite boy who loves everyone, I'm that pup. I am quite the gentleman, if I do say so myself.Found by my rescuer in Autumn on the side of the street in the Middle East, I was a very small puppy. There were some nice children around, they tried bringing me some pieces of bone, and while I was hungry, I was unable to eat this yet. So, my rescuer brought me home with her. While very good with children and other dogs, I do however bark at cats. Go figure. Maybe with proper intro, I'd be ok? Might be best to bypass the feline type in my new home for now.One thing you should know about me is my special diet. They don't feed me dry food because it is not good quality here; instead, I enjoy delicious meals of chicken with vegetables. I also love to play --weather is chasing a ball, cuddling, a doll or even with stuffed animal toys. and whenever my rescuer sees me, I can but jump into her and pure joy! You'll find I am quite smart and learn very quickly. I love toys like stuffed animals. I do have a tendency toward digging in the yard where there are other dogs. Not sure if I would do this if I was an only. I have that exuberant puppyness yet, so I imagine as I mature and yountrain me, I will chill more.I am able to jump, so should have a home with a fence. If I get plenty of exercise otherwise, in a safe enclosed area or maybe as a running/hiking partner, I could manage without a yard. No off leash work until I am bonded with good recall, as I'm still a puppy and can get excited and run. I'm a bit hesitant at first going in the car, but tend to be calm. I'm sure I will enjoy rides, once I understand more about them. I don't get much chance to go anywhere where I live. Here I am enjoying some playtime with my doggy friends. http://https://youtube.com/shorts/lOWuECvIPXM?si=5Mi3q7uTtwYsTYwAHoping you are after a kind, intelligent and beautiful dog. I'd love to be your pupper for life. Here is an additional video of me being a love bug: https://youtube.com/shorts/nKbBY8FlD1w?si=OTtx_IJwxj9gPWePEnergy Level: moderate to moderate highI get along with:Dogs: yesCats: unknownKids: yesFears: none observed. Please be patient assisting me in my transition.Training: house manners and a bit if leash workLeash skills: some. Please be prepared to continue training.House trained: Yes. Please help me learn where to go in my new home.Health notes:I have been spayed/neutered & vaccinated. I will be microchipped prior to arrival. My adoption fee is $800.00 CAD plus applicable taxes. While our rescuers always seek a flight without a charge, there is the possibility of a passenger fee, to a max of $300.Most passengers from the Middle East now require a fee to accompany a dog on a flight. Due to this, if a rescuer finds a flight with this requirement, we will contact you to see if you are willing to pay the passenger. You are under no obligation to do this. If not, another flight will need to be searched for, though there is no guarantee a free or lower cost one will be found. Though oft times a passenger is requesting higher amounts, the fee will not exceed $250. Our rescuers work extremely hard finding flights and spend tremendous amounts of money caring for and sending these dogs to safety. They simply haven't the extra money to cover this. Thank you for your understanding.Disclaimer: It is important for all applicants to visit our website, http://www.lovedatlastdogrescue.ca/adopting/ and read about Loved at Last Dog Rescue.Information included in the profile is provided to us from the international rescuer or local fosters. LALDR does not have access to overseas dogs and cannot always verify the accuracy of their descriptions. Every dog is an individual and can act differently in different situations based on the person adopting them and the environment in which they live. Please Note: LALDR highly encourages adopters to research some local dog trainers before their dog arrives. Although a 1-on-1 trainer is often not needed, it is good to have someone in mind in case any problematic behaviours arise. Most bad behaviours can be modified if caught early enough, so make sure to nip undesirable behaviours in the bud before they become serious problems.Basic training should be taken seriously, but should not begin until your dog is well settled in - at least a couple of weeks. After you feel your new dog is relaxed and comfortable in their new home, check out training courses in your local area. Even basic beginner courses like those taught at a local pet store can have a huge benefit in helping your dog learn to socialize and get used to being in public situations, all with the added benefit of strengthening their bond with you. While most dogs find escorting passengers flying directly to Vancouver, some will find flights through Toronto or Montreal. In that case, additional fees will apply to fly your dog to Vancouver by cargo. Unaccompanied cargo costs within Canada range from $350 - $550 depending on the size of the dog. LALDR will be as transparent as possible with you regarding these costs. The age and breed of a dog is usually an educated guess, so we are not able to guarantee the accuracy of age or breed of our dogs.Normally, we will not approve adoptions to homes with children under 12 years of age. However if a dog has been determined to be good with children we will approve applicants with children 8 years or older. More information can be found on our website.[MID-EAST] *Vaccinations: Dogs from the Middle East are vaccinated for rabies, parvo, distemper, leptospirosis, adenovirus type 1 and para-influenza. Bordetella is not given, as that has not been a problem in the Middle East.[TURKEY] *Dogs receive 4D SNAP tests - which include: Heartworm, Ehrlichiosis, Leishmania and Anaplasmosis.
