Say hello to Miss Jill E. Bear, sometimes also called Jill E. Bean! Jill gets along with other dogs, male or female. She is very playful with other dogs even if they are bigger than she is. Jill has spent some time in our chicken yard, and she has proven trustworthy around them, as if chickens are a natural part of the landscape. We're not sure whether she has any serious guardian instincts, but she could live in a home with a family who has a flock of backyard chickens, and with proper introductions, we believe she could be trusted not to harm them. Jill was a little bit timid when we first pulled her out of a small rural shelter, but she has really made good progress and has been friendly to the visitors she has met since arriving at our place, and she has been very friendly with everyone on her trips to the vet. She's a smart girl who quickly learned to sit for treats, and to sit and wait for her food bowl to be put down. Because we are currently so crowded with dogs, we haven't been able to move Jill inside the house. She lives outside mostly, with access to our garage for shelter. The only time we have had her in a crate is during transport, and she has behaved OK then. We would love to find a foster home for Jill where she could make the transition to living inside the house. Jill looks like she might be an Akbash mix or possibly a Great Pyrenees/Lab mix, but that's just our guess. She was picked up as a stray in a rural area so we don't know anything about her history. What we DO know is that she is very sweet, loves attention from her people, and deserves to have a home where she will get all the love and attention she can handle.
