More about the shelter
The Animal Protection Society, Inc. (APS) of Person County is a non-profit organization functioning as a county-wide humane society that is independent of Person County government and funding. We are a group of dedicated volunteers passionate about promoting spay/neuter to reduce the pet over-population, which leads to the untimely death of so many of our beloved companions. We are also very compassionate in rescuing animals in danger, and placing them in to loving homes. We do not have a shelter. Our animals rescued are placed in to our foster program where we provide, medical care, love, and nourishment while they are waiting for their forever homes.
Our objectives include the following:
promote spay/neuter to reduce the overpopulation of animals, a condition that leads to the neglect, abuse, and abandonment of animals in Person County
the placement of unwanted animals into responsible, loving homes.
educate public on responsible pet ownership
rescue animals in danger of being euthanized.

About Chief
Distance: 2,289 Miles
Chief "Mr. Stubbs" is a petite young cat (about 9 lbs) with a short manx tail and the most silky soft fur. (He feels like a rabbit!) This super low maintenance kitty is about a year old and can't understand why his cute self is still in foster. He has zero bad habits but he thinks it's because he has a very shy first impression.
Chief is very cat friendly. He tolerates cat-savy dogs and will occasionally run up and scare the resident dog because it's just so fun to watch him jump. He loves to play, chase toys or anything he can turn into a toy, watch tv, and hang out in the window to watch the birds. Chief is not a lap kitty yet. He is very content hanging out in the room with you. He loves head scratches and laying beside you but is still not sure he should be picked up. He is food-motivated and will come running when you call him or shake a treat container. He would make a great brother to another cat since he thrives on following their lead or would be content being the only kitty for you to talk to. Chief is kid-friendly, neutered, current on vaccines, and FeLV negative.
