More about the shelter
We are a small rescue specializing in herding breeds. We pull dogs from the Southeastern United States, predominantly Florida, that are on death row and literally have just hours. We take dogs of all ages and do not turn down dogs that are ill or heartworm positive. I rescued a border collie 3 years ago from a shelter, and that led to the discovery that there were many in shelters. I have property to keep dogs on and wanted to help them, so here we are today. We have a network of fosters. The dogs receive basic training, house manners, leash training, crate training, are housebroken, and vetted. We try very carefully to match dogs with people to diminish returns, and we do indeed have few returns.
Initial contact via email or phone, application to adopt must be filled out, references, especially vet refs and home checks, are done. Initial meet and greet, interview is set up. If all goes well, the dog is adopted at a set date. We do extensive education re care and integration of the dog, any current quirks or issues are discussed, feeding schedule, etc. Adopters are encouraged to call with questions and stay in contact.
About KAY
Distance: 2,547 Miles
Kay is a 35 pound love bug! She craves love and belly rubs! Would love to have a family with kids who could give her love and attention. She adores children!! Ages 3-4 and up!
DOes well on a leash, no pulling, no reaction to dogs who bark behind fences. House trained, sleeps in a doggie play pen, and is willing to go into pen when its time to go to bed or when foster goes out.
Loves treats, knows some basic commands. Loves to go for car rides and to go to new places. She just wants to be with her people!!!
the downside?? Kay needs to be an only dog!!! She is perfect with her family great on outings and walks, as long as she has her personal space.
Kay has had cruiciate repair on one of her legs, she is doing great and has healed from that.
she has been waiting for her own family for a long time, most likely due to her dog selectiveness. She is in a foster family now, and if they can do it, surely there is someone out there that wants a furry companion????
If so please let us know, applications are at ewenityfarmsbch.com.. Kay is about 4 yrs old, spayed utd wtih all vetting and preventions!!
