More about the shelter
OMC! (Only Maine Coons Rescue) is a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization. We are a 100% volunteer-run/breed-specific rescue group that specializes in the Maine Coon Cat breed. We rescue Maine Coon Cat/Kitten mixes from shelters and unwanted situations. On occasion, we rescue purebred (PB) Maine Coon Cat/Kitten(s). This means that they have papers registering them as a purebred cat. In addition all of our cats are lovingly cared for in Foster homes until they are placed into their furrever homes.
Although we cannot guarantee the percentage of Maine Coon in each cat that we rescue. Be assured that each Coonie cat represents the breed in a satisfactory manner. Please take a look at the Maine Coon cats in need of a furrever home by clicking on this link: Available Cats.
In order to start the adoption process, please fill out an Adoption Application by clicking on this link Adoption Application.
We are a close-knit group who all work together to make adoptions happen as quickly as possible, and to ensure a happy ending for the coonie and the new adopter.
An application is submitted to our organization. The application is assigned to adoption coordinator for processing. The adoption coordinator interviews and follows up on references. Then they write up an application summary, and post for the group to vote on. The group votes on the applicants adoption status. Once approved to adopt thru our organization, they may pick a cat/kitten to adopt. If approved by the foster parent the adoption process proceeds. Applicant submits adoption agreement and donation is made and then the adopter picks up or we deliver the cat/kitten. Adoption is complete.
About Ramona
Distance: 327 Miles
Ramona arrived into foster care back in April of 2021 with 6 kittens. All of her kittens have been adopted. Ramona has battled being sick for many months. She had pneumonia and also a problem with her ear canal, as well as some dental issues She was spayed, had her ears done and a dental ( she now has NO teeth). We are still working on Ramonas ears, because she does get a wax build up and needs to have them cleaned. She also gets a runny nose which we believe to be caused from her ear buildup. We do have an appointment with an internist to see if anything can be done further to help her.
Ramona is a cautious girl who will accept petting on her terms. She needs an experienced person who is not intimidated by her and is comfortable handling her to giver her pets, meds and take her to the vet as needed. She does have some trust issues so she will need someone who is willing to give her space and work with her. Ramona has never leashed out and scratched or bitten anyone. She is cooperative at the vets office and even allowed cold laser therapy to her ears and nose.
Ramona deserves her own home and someone who understands her struggles.
She does get along with other cats and is out and about in her foster room when the humans are in there.
She is UTD, and tested negative
