More about the shelter
The success of our organization is rooted in our dedicated group of volunteers both local and abroad. We have partnered with like-minded individuals in countries including but not limited to the Middle East, Bahrain, India, Turkey, Mexico and Vietnam to help change the lives of some of the worldâs most in-need animals. As we do not have a physical location, we depend on the support of the local community in the form of foster homes and potential adopters.
According to the World Health Organization, there are more than 200 million stray dogs worldwide (as of 2017). The lives of these street dogs is particularly short and difficult in countries with limited resources dedicated to animal welfare. This is where we come in.
Our partners abroad work tirelessly to take in stray dogs who are most in need of medical care. They (and you) are their best chance for survival. Generally, the process begins with the dogs being rescued off of the streets, restored to health and rehabilitated by these compassionate individuals.
Loved at Last Dog Rescue is a society of dog loving volunteers who are committed to assisting in the rehoming of local dogs and rescuing dogs (often disabled) from high kill countries around the world.
LALDR does not profit from any adoption fees. All donations to Loved at Last Dog Rescue are used to cover the cost of veterinary care, special equipment such as prosthetics and wheelchairs and to assist in the transportation of the dogs.
The specific objectives and purpose of this organization shall be: a) To assist owners who are no longer able to care for their dog in re-homing the dog. b) To educate people about the importance of adopting, not buying, a dog. To educate people about street dogs and abused dogs and to provide a network of support to dog owners. c) To save dogs in need and at risk whenever possible, especially in situations where there is a potential for unnecessary euthanasia. d) To educate people about spaying and neutering, as well as the identification and registration, of domestic pets.
We have a passion for preserving life and for protecting those who can't speak for themselves. To champion for those who are victimized by cruelty.
-adoption application, phone interview, home visit, meet the dog.
Adoption fees range from $400 to $600 depending on the dog's age.
Contract required. Spay/neuter if animal currently too young & return policy to us if animal can no longer be kept, unless other contract arrangements previously made.

Distance: 3,820 Miles
Hello, everyone! I'm a vibrant 2-ish year old corgi mix and my name is Beene, affectionately known as Benny Boy by humans. I arrived in Canada in December 2023. I have been fortunate to live with caring foster families since my arrival. As a special-needs dog requiring diapers/belly bands for indoors, I need a special kind of person/family able to commit to my long-term care. I'm a lively pup with lots of energy, love to give, and excitement for what is to come! I was born in a small village in the Middle East and when I was one month old, a human found me whimpering under a tree all alone. The whereabouts of my mother and littermates were unkown, so they kindly brought me to a shelter where I stayed for 1.5 years with other dogs in a small room and yard. Even though the conditions weren't the greatest at the crowded shelter, it provided me the opportunity to connect with people who sponsored my trip to B.C.Benny is happily living in a foster home here in BC with numerous other dogs. He loves playing with other dogs and would be extremely adaptable in a home with another playful dog(s) or have the opportunity to go to dog parks. Benny enjoys romps with fellow canines, and adores people even more. He's a sweetheart who lives for human affection and will gently place his paw on your leg or arm to let you know it is time to pet him, or for him to melt your heart with his soulful eyes.Benny has a minor incontinence problem which has been undiagnosed, but is suspected to be neurologically related. He has given handlers direction for his need to release his bowels by going close to doors, however, his bladder control isn't as easy for him to recognize and has been controlled with belly bands while indoors.Benny is a very friendly and sociable dog, although he can be a bit timid when meeting new humans, particularly men. With patience and care it won't take him long before seeking their affection. In fact Benny's current foster is a man and it took all of five minutes for them to bond. Eager to please, and very food motivated, training Benny is a breeze. Being a very gentle soul who doesn't have any resource guarding, he's also great with kids! Sometimes Benny's joy for life gives him the "zoomies" and he races around happily in large circles. Leaving Benny home alone for a few hours is no problem: no separation anxiety. A home with a fenced yard is ideal for him to run, explore, and eliminate without the diaper/belly band. Neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. Adoption fee is by donation. Disclaimer: It is important for all applicants to visit our website, http://www.lovedatlastdogrescue.ca/adopting/The age and breed of a dog is usually an educated guess. Loved at Last Dog Rescue is not able to guarantee the accuracy of age or breed of our dogs.Normally, we will not approve adoptions to homes with children under 12 years of age. However if a dog has been determined to be good with children we will approve applicants with children 8 years or older. More information can be found on our website.
