Fence needed? Yes, Bonnie requires a physically fenced yard with fencing 5 feet or taller. The right owner with no fence would be committed to walking Bonnie daily at least twice a day. Bonnie cannot have a wooden fence as she uses the wood planks to climb over the fence. She needs any other form of fencing 5 feet or higher.
What kind of home would be best for me? Bonnie's best home will be with an adventurous family. She would be just fine as your only pup or with another dog of any size. Bonnie likes to chase cats, so we suggest a home with no cats for her. Bonnie is frequently caught snoozing in the sun and just overall hanging out. Bonnie is a healthy mix of energetic and lazy. She will zoom around her canine companions before settling down for a nap. Bonnie would prefer a home with another large canine companion, she does stick to male dogs more often than not. She can be a bit grouchy with a strong-willed female dog. She's like most female dogs, she wants to be the princess of the house. She has lived with female dogs in her foster home, she would sometimes get grouchy with her very rambunctious stepsister who is also a grouchy girl. With a quick verbal correction, both girls would leave each other be. Bonnie just prefers male dogs because they are easy to boss around! Bonnie loves to be the center of life and has the benefit of already living in a home. She is young and affectionate and ready to give her big heart to someone. She is looking for a young couple who want to have the very best companion!
What is my personality like? Bonnie is as cute as a button. She has a personality as big as her ears. And a heart even bigger. She is loud and proud and greets everyone she meets as though she's known them her entire life. Bonnie loves to tussle and wrestle with her canine friends, it is a must that Bonnie gets frequent play dates if she were to go to a home with no other dogs. Bonnie has matured into a young lady fast; she is respectful and listens well to directions. Bonnie knows basic cues such as sit and paw. She is highly food-motivated and will be easy to train. Bonnie would benefit from training classes with her new owner. Bonnie is crate-trained, house-trained, and leash-trained. She will easily walk into her forever home.
How do I act when I first meet new people? Friendly, Bonnie has never met a stranger. She loves people. She prefers to be at home more often than not, she gets very excited in public, and she is just a happy dog. She frequently works on her manners in public, but she forgets not everyone is looking to pet dogs in public. You will spend some time correcting her and showing her to not jump on new people.
Other tips and tidbits: We celebrate Bonnie's birthday as 7/15/20. Bonnie is available for transport to New York!
House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.
