More about the shelter
Taysia Blue Siberian Husky Rescue in Nebraska is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization. Our all volunteer mission is to keep Huskies and Malamutes out of shelters where they are at risk of being killed due to overcrowding.
Siberian Huskies are beautiful. It's hard not to fall in love with their fluffy coats and gorgeous eyes, it's hard not to laugh at their antics and marvel at their independent intelligence. But with the fur comes the shedding, with the antics comes possible destruction and with the independence and intelligence comes a rather nomadic Houdini of a dog that wants to escape and run for the fun of it. Often these dogs are adopted by people who are not prepared for the very traits they were attracted to. Some husky owners are not prepared for the amount of energy these dogs have and the exercise they require. They are intelligent, but often easily bored and not easy to train, they can be stubborn and mischievous. Please research this breed carefully before you choose to adopt a Siberian husky.
Our Adoption Process
After you submit your adoption application, via our website, http://TaysiaBlue.com, a Taysia Blue volunteer will
contact you within 2-3 days. We are most interested in which type dog will
be a good fit for you and your family and the other pets in your home.
We will also contact you by phone to learn
more about the dog you're looking for and to review the current available
dogs in our rescue.
We will schedule an appointment for you to meet the dog(s). If a match is made,
we can complete the adoption process at that time. If we don't find the
perfect match, we'll keep trying till we do!
We hope that your home is the very last stop on the dog's journey and we do
all we can to help you and your dog make the transition easier, including
providing you with an information packet loaded with tips and resources.
Our quality standard vet care is as follows:
• Spay/Neuter - All dogs will be spayed or neutered prior to being
adopted.
• Heartworm Test - If the heartworm test is negative, the dog is placed on
regular heartworm preventative. If the heartworm test is positive, the dog
is treated to eradicate the heartworms and then placed on regular heartworm
preventative.
• Rabies vaccination
• DHP (Distemper, Hepatitis, Parvo) vaccination
• Bordatella (kennel cough) vaccination
• Flea and tick preventative
• Microchip

• Dogs 8 years and older require a donation of $250.
About Sassafras
Distance: 730 Miles
Well, howdy, y'all! I am Sassafras, an extremely sweet Malamute/German Shepherd mix! While I don't quite remember my past, I can say that I am grateful I no longer roam the streets! I do enjoy the hoomans who have cared for me here and appreciate a comfortable and safe environment! I do very well with other dogs, that's not a problem for me! Playtime is my favorite time, other than the affection given by my foster hooman, of course. While I enjoy members of the same species, I do not quite know how I feel about other species....including kitties and little hooman sprouts. I believe I just need supervision upon interaction, as I have not yet branched out to them.
Traditionally, Sassafras was used to purify and heal. Can I be please be the one to do that for you? I'd sure love it if you'd apply to meet me!
