More about the shelter
K-9 Lifesavers, a 501c(3) non-profit organization, rescues homeless and abandoned dogs from high-kill shelters, owners who can no longer care for them, and other high-risk situations. K-9 Lifesavers works with dedicated volunteers, foster homes, local veterinarians, trainers, and kennels to provide loving temporary care while we find well-matched, carefully screened forever homes for each dog we take in. We also serve as a support group to our adopters and all dog owners by providing ongoing education and resources for the well-being of their dogs, including the importance of proactive spay/neuter policies, positive behavior training, and good nutrition.
Adoption Application, Interview, Vet Check, and Home Visit. Fees: Puppies 6 months and under: $350; Dogs 7 months to 9 years: $300; Dogs 10 years and over: $200.

DOG'S DESCRIPTION
Lucy is a beautiful, sweet and gentle lady who is waiting to find a loving forever home. She is smart, and already knows some commands. She is gentle, especially when taking treats. And she is playful, and LOVES to go for a ride in the car and play fetch. Lucy is good with kids, but due to her large size would do better with kids over the age of 5. Lucy is very active, and will need a yard to run around. She loves to chase squirrels and go on long hikes with her foster mom. Lucy gets along with SOME dogs, but not with ALL dogs. She’d thrive as an only dog, or living with an older quieter dog. If another dog is in the home, a meet and greet is required. Please consider opening your heart and home to this sweet girl. She adores people and can’t wait to meet her forever family! Lucy is HW positive and will receive treatment while she is with us.
Your new pet will require a refresher in house-training. K-9 Lifesavers strongly recommends all new adopters enroll their new pet into obedience training. This provides for an easier transition into a new home, ensures the dog remains well socialized, and helps form a bond between the dog and the new family.
Adoption fees cover basic vetting, spay/neuter surgery, rabies, distemper/parvo vaccinations, treatment for worms, heartworm testing, monthly heartworm prevention and monthly flea/tick prevention (while the animal is in our care), and transport costs from high-kill shelter. Please note that on average, K-9 Lifesavers spend significantly more on each dog than their adoption fee. Adoption fee for HW positive dogs also covers heartworm treatment at our partner vets.
